PGVLE is moving to the NHS Learning Hub
The Postgraduate Virtual Learning Environment is moving to the NHS Learning Hub, creating the foundation for an integrated national learning platform.
PGVLE cannot be accessed during this period. We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience while the platform is transferred and checked.
The PGVLE story
PGVLE was created in 2020 in response to the first COVID-19 lockdown. Its original purpose was to provide deanery-level training and education for core surgical trainees in the West Midlands.
Since then, PGVLE has grown organically and expanded far beyond its original scope. It has brought together stakeholders from multiple specialties and deaneries, supporting a diverse community of multidisciplinary and international learners.
Several years ago, the PGVLE team began working with NHS England’s Technology Enhanced Learning team to develop the service into a national platform. A considerable amount of work has since taken place to prepare for this transition.
After more than six years of growth, PGVLE is now moving onto NHS England’s dedicated infrastructure. This is an important step towards providing a national learning platform integrated with the NHS Learning Hub.
We would like to thank all our users, course teams, Digital Fellows and partners for their support and contributions over the years as we undertake this next stage of the PGVLE journey.

- A foundation for PGVLE to develop into a national learning platform
