Subject: PGVLE moving to the Learning Hub — offline 12–18 October

Dear colleague,

The Post Graduate Virtual Learning Environment (PGVLE) will move into the Learning Hub during October 2026.

Why is this happening?
The changeover of the PGVLE to the Learning Hub intends to improve your learning experience by providing wider access to content from one login.

How does this impact me?
The PGVLE will continue to provide the same features, course functionality and navigation in the Learning Hub. The service will be unavailable for one week during the changeover — Monday 12th to Sunday 18th October — while the platform is migrated and tested, and will return on Monday 19th October. Any live teaching sessions scheduled during that week will run via MS Teams instead, with recordings added back to your course once the platform is live again.

Changeover timeline
12th October 2026 – changeover begins, PGVLE offline
12th–18th October – migration and testing
19th October 2026 – PGVLE available to access via the Learning Hub

Do I need to do anything?
Before the 12th: faculty support, course managers and administrators should review and remove any unused content from the PGVLE.
After the 19th: please check your learning history has carried across as expected, and bookmark the PGVLE's new location within the Learning Hub (My learning activity) for quick access in future.

A bit of history: the PGVLE started in the first COVID lockdown as a platform for around 100 surgical trainees in the Midlands. This move onto NHS-hosted infrastructure is what lets it become available to the entire NHS workforce, not just those of us who were here at the start.

Where to get support
Please contact the Digital Fellows or the Learning Hub Support team with your questions.

With many thanks,
